Description

Established in 2009 and run by professional artists and highly qualified teachers, Fitzroy Painting for Beginners began when a need for a ‘back to basics’ method of teaching was identified.

Beginners Level 1: Tutors Kez Hughes (Wednesday), Ebony Truscott / John Waller (Thursday)

This 4 - week course is designed for the complete beginner as an introduction to the fundamentals of oil painting, including how to select the right mediums and materials, preparing to paint, basic colour theory, techniques and composition. Class sizes are limited to ensure one-on-one tuition.

You will learn the basics of oil painting through a series of exercises, making paintings as you go, and should be able to continue painting with confidence at home. Our studio-based classes are fun and informative and include wine, cheese and refreshments to keep you going. Visit our website for more information and to see examples of student work: fitzroypainting.com

* PLEASE NOTE that due to high demand and limited places we are unable to offer 'make-up' classes for this special price 4-week course. Please check your diary before booking and read our T&C below!

13 June 2019 • 4-Week Beginners Oil Painting Course: Level 1

I had a lovely four weeks learning the basics about oil painting with Kez. There was plenty of support, and good nibbles, to keep us all going as we worked through our understandings of colour and familiarised ourselves with how oil painting works. Would definitely recommend this class!

As someone having no previous experience in oil painting (or any form of painting), I found this course to be incredibly well structured. Beginning with the basics and working up to painting some pieces that I wouldn't have thought possible at the beginning. Kez was a great teacher, who ran the class with patience and an all important sense of humour. Chris

I really enjoyed this class, Ebony is a very supportive teacher and I'm now happy that I know more about preparation and mixing, it now feels fun to use oils, where before it use to feel hard. 😀
